A Postdoctoral Fellow of Peking University Was Invited to the "Reception Hall" of LVTC

From News Center (Text by Qin Yuming from the Publicity Department of the Party Committee; photo by Zeng Qingyong and Zhao Hua from the Convergence Media Center) On the afternoon of March 25, 2022, the "Craftsman Reception Hall" and "Entrepreneurship Lectures" hosted by the Publicity Department of the Party Committee and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College (LVTC) was held at the Craftsman's Academy. Li Shuhua, a postdoctoral fellow in financial law from Peking University, was invited to give a keynote lecture entitled "Believing in the Power of Long-Term Persistence-Marathon and Entrepreneurship".

Yang Xu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of LVTC, attended the event, which was hosted by Yang Lin, Director of the Publicity Department of the Party Committee of LVTC and Dean of the Craftsman's Academy. The event also attracted amateur marathoners from Liuzhou City. Affected by COVID-19, this event was "live broadcasted and livestreamed simultaneously online"

Dr. Li Shuhua has a rich life experience. He is a national candidate of the New Century National Hundred, Thousand and Ten-Thousand Talent Project, one of the national leading accountants, one of the national leading talents in Shenzhen, Managing Partner of M&A Fund of Oriental Fortune Capital, Chairman of Changzhou NRB Corporation, a listed company, professor of practice in  PE in many famous universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, National Accounting Institute, Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and Chinese University of Hong Kong, and independent director of many listed companies. He is also the founder of Jin Rong Jie Ma Bang (the Marathon Team of the Beijing Financial Street) and has participated in 168 full marathons and the Ultra Gobi five times.

In the lecture, Li Shuhua first shared his experience of taking part in marathons for many years with the audience. He began to become interested in marathons in middle age. The secret that has helped him overcome numerous difficult and dangerous situations and breakdowns is to feel grateful. The marathon has brought him courage, a sense of purpose, willpower, team spirit, and optimism. Entrepreneurship is like a marathon, during which you will encounter many uncertainties. Facing life with persistence, calmness, and composure will lead to long-term victory.

Afterward, Li Shuhua also recommended a book list for the audience and analyzed the future orientation of venture capital investment from three aspects, i.e., the great power competition, industry cycle, and career choices. The essence of entrepreneurship is figuring out human nature and the needs of people, while that of business is trading. It is necessary to follow the changes of the times and the logic of China's economic development, as well as the innovation-driven development strategy. In addition to essential characteristics, entrepreneurs also need to have bottom-line thinking, contrarian thinking, and the ability to put themselves in others' shoes. He said that it is important to believe in the future and in the "power of long-term perseverance. Looking to the future, on the one hand, we should recognize that the pandemic has had a huge impact on China's economy and we all have to go through the downward pressure on the economy; on the other hand, we also need to be conscious of the fact that the fundamentals of China's economy will still keep growing.

After the lecture, Yang Xu granted the appointment letter of the visiting professor of the Craftsman's Academy to Li Shuhua and warmly welcomed him to our college for frequent exchanges. After listening to Li Shuhua's life experience, career choices, and in-depth and unique insights into the industry, the students had a deeper reflection on their life orientation, career planning, and learning goals. While further understanding themselves comprehensively and objectively, the students also broadened their vision, clarified their career orientation, and sublimated their life planning.

Finally, Li Shuhua interacted with the audience. The event was successfully concluded in a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

It is reported that the "Reception Hall" series is a key high-end cultural branding activity by the Craftsman's Academy. By inviting great craftsmen, skill masters, outstanding alumni, and top talents to LVTC and learning their experiences and stories, we encourage students to carry forward the craftsmanship spirit and further improve their professionalism.
